According to the Stonewall Communities website, the not-for-profit’s goal is to create “a residential community located in [...]

Sometimes, things make sense. Sometimes, they don’t.
I’m not a fan of historic preservation. Not at all.
Here’s a worst-case scenario, for you.
Old man lives in a house, with his elderly mother. Decides to sell his property. Apparently, there were no zoning issues, or anything of the sort, at least they weren’t mentioned.
No, [...]

IProperty taxes have risen over the past ten years, by 50%, I believe, for homeowners in Boston. This is due to increases in property values, not to increases in the tax rate. (So, a property assessed at $250,000 in the early 1990s is now assessed at $500,000.)
Commercial real estate is taxed differently, based [...]

Ouch.
A family finds what seems to be a perfect home. Within hours of closing, however, the husband and wife discover there may have been a huge oil tank leak, something not disclosed by the sellers.
Unfortunately for the young couple, their newly purchased single-family home … was an environmental time bomb.
“Our first night there we [...]

Just got mail from the developer behind the Neponset Place Condominiums, located at 48 Coffey Street, in Dorchester.
Looks to be a condo conversion. Forty condos, 25 one-bedrooms (725 +/- square feet) and 15 two-bedrooms (925 +/- square feet).
Prices? Mmmm. $219,900 for one-bedrooms, $269,000 – $279,000 for two-bedrooms.
They took the time to put [...]

I went at open houses in the Back Bay, yesterday, with a client. We were looking for “cheap” studios, something under $300,000. There are twelve units on the market, in this price range.
We stopped by a property on Beacon Street. This building had been converted from a single-family, or rooming house, I [...]

Film director Woody Allen has moved from a $25,000 per month rental to a single-family home, in New York City.
The ink just dried on his $25.9 million townhouse contract, as The New York Observer reported on Jan. 19.
In 1999, Mr. Allen and his wife, Soon-Yi, purchased a 40-foot-wide Carnegie Hill mansion for $17.7 million. Located [...]

Great website with data on the Boston housing market.
You can find out average list prices now, versus three, six, and twelve months ago, as well as trends in prices and inventory levels.
The more information, the better. I hope he adds median list prices, as well as sold data, as these are as important.
Also, the [...]

Suppose you’re about to turn 65 you’re going to retire, and you have a lot of money. Or even better, you’re turning 62, 57, or 55 and have enough set aside to retire, now (I’ll be 80 years old before I retire, based on my financial advisor’s calculations).
Do you want to move? Where? [...]
