The New York Times covers a mega-development going up in Atlanta. It made me think of our own mega-development, currently on the drawing boards (and starting construction, as we speak), NorthPoint, on the Cambridge / Somerville / Boston border. The reason for the Times article is because Brooklyn is facing its largest development, ever, the [...]

I don’t know. Actually, I only wrote that because I needed a headline. The Globe ran an editorial today entitled “Where’s the housing” which asked the question, Where’s the housing? It costs so much to build in the city of Boston, due to lack of land and the high cost of construction (and because developers [...]

Exciting new developments are going up everywhere, and, finally, some of them appear to be addressing the need for affordable housing. Best of all, the projects appear to be privately-financed. First, was the announcement that three developers have submitted plans for Roxbury’s Parcel P-3, at the corner of Tremont Street and Ruggles Street (across from [...]

Word is, a new mixed-use development is to be built at the corner of Tremont Street and Ruggles Street, in Roxbury, near Northeastern University (and the nice little Whittier housing development). Three developers have submitted plans to the Boston Redevelopment Authority. Each has a residential component, although one includes in its plans a bunch of [...]

Or, so says Kimberly Blanton, in today’s Globe. You would think so. I mean, as I often say, housing prices are a matter of supply and demand, right? So, if there’s a built-up supply of inventory (is that redundant?), then sellers will need to start lowering the prices of their homes and condos, in order [...]

Maybe a good idea. Scott Van Voorhis writes in today’s Herald that Wonderland dog track owner Charles Sarkis might be thinking of closing the track and selling the land, on which condos and single-family homes would be built. Of course, the most obvious thing would be to use the 30-acres of land for office, retail, [...]

(Okay, I rewrote this, because I think, after further thought, that my views pretty much match up with the author’s.) Charles D. Chieppo writes an op-ed piece in today’s Globe, where he basically says that, because the MBTA is so deeply in debt, it should cancel any new expansion plans, and use more of its [...]

Exciting news. Fifty new single-family homes are currently under construction near the corner of Morton Street and Harvard Street, on the Jamaica Plain / Mattapan border. The houses are pretty damn big, running from 1900 – 3000 square feet (?!) and the prices seem pretty good, from the low $400′s (for 1900 square feet) up [...]
