    John,
How they put an underground garage there?
Won’t it be an underground swimming pool?

I agree with Hines. Its private property so be happy. My goal is this: something is better than nothing.

    @ carpundit:

slurry walls. its how virtually every deep structure in boston has a basement. They used slurry walls for the big dig, and i watch them get installed over at the new ambulatory building at mgh.

the one thing that looks iffy to me is the loading docks. are they expecting semi’s to enter in and maneuver down in the garage? looks awfully tight.

John - Can you explain “seaport hill?” Are they artificially creating a hill? That could have some potential.

I don’t know Jon. I guess I assumed so. Not so much a hill but a slope from up there down toward the Harbor, since Summer Street is elevated.

I am concerned about the parking coordination, as well. There are very few entrances to the garages. I didn’t ask about it at the community meeting, last night, because it seemed premature. These are just preliminary renderings, subject to change (no doubt, they will)

As drawn, there is only one entrance along Seaport Blvd and one around the corner for the second parking “garage”. That doesn’t seem wise, from a driver’s point of view.

That’s not what you’re talking about, you mentioned the loading docks, but it all goes together.

This project will be great for Boston. Office Space rentals are through the roof.

Too bad we can’t do better than choosing between parking lots and plans that look like downtown Peoria.

My prediction is that Seaport Square will be a serious and lasting example of mediocrity and desperation, especially whenever Boston is compared with other great waterfront cities.

My prediction is that Seaport Square will end up being what North Point wanted to be. Of course the Silver Line Bus isn’t as efficient as the underground lines.

Bottom line, Boston needs more residents & office space to continue to thrive in a global economy.
