That’s a lot of work, Copley Square edition

Boston Mayor Thomas M Menino recently announced a citywide initiative to encourage residents and visitors to spend some of their summer vacations close to home. “Holi-stays”, they are called.

The new program is called “Visit the Pin-itiative”; around the city (well, around some of the city) city-workers have installed giant 12-foot wooden sculptures. Go up to one, type the corresponding SMS text number into your cell phone, and you’ll find out more information about the area as well as suggestions on things to do.

Here’s a young lady sprucing up a pin in Copley Square by painting the base.

What do you think? Cute idea?

Meanwhile, across the plaza, repair work continues on the park. Only nine more months to go, boys, better step it up or you’ll miss your deadline!
