MFA ends $500 million capital campaign … congrats!
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston officially concluded its five seven-year, $500 million capital campaign, yesterday.
Over 25,000 people contributed.
With the proceeds, the museum will:
Create a spectacular new wing for Art of the Americas;
Renovate the European and Ancient World galleries;
Create new spaces for Contemporary and Modern art;
Redesign and expand Museum Learning facilities;
Redesign the dramatic glass-enclosed Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Family Courtyard;
Redesign a larger and more centrally located Sharf Visitor Center;
Create a new central location for the Graham Gund Gallery;
Create state-of-the-art conservation equipment and work spaces;
Create and redesigned main entrances at both Huntington and Fenway.
Plus, more urinals.
Congratulations to the entire MFA community, from gracious and generous donors to its million+ anuual visitors, from MFA management to its (overworked and underpaid) staff.
