    Hi John,

    Thanks for posting pointers to all these quarterly reports.

    Looks like the South End has been treading water since the end of 2004. Bradley take note. ;-)

    On the whole, Boston is clearly doing better than many other parts of the country, at least so far. We should count our blessings.

    Why does noone listen to me?

    I’ve said time and time again, better nabes will hold up long and strong.

    Once again, I’m proven correct.

    This isn’t Detroit. This isn’t Las Vegas. This isn’t Miami. This is one of the most desireable cities on the Eastern seaboard. Too many want to live here for the number of properties. This will keep property values high. It’s simple people, simple!

    Property values in South End seem to hover around 2004 levels…my money market savings account and CDs have gotten me a far better return than buying in the South End after 2004 would have…

    I bought in 2006; we’ve lived here for three years. I’ve never been happier.

    What is your end-game?? Your CDs and passbook can’t give you shelter at night – if you’re going to buy, buy!! What event needs to happen for you to make a move?? You’ve gone through the greatest run-up in real estate prices and now you’ve gone through a significant drop in pricing. If not when it was going up and not when it’s gone down, then when??

    I think you need to change your name – you’re not “condobuyer”.

    The above is in jest so don’t take it too hard but also, seriously, what’s your plan??

    John–I’m sure there are many like you who are happy and that’s great…I’m not denying that but obviously you were looking to stay for a while and not looking to move. The reason I’m happy with my decision is that in 2004 we didn’t have much for a significant down payment and were always offered no down options. We were looking for a 2 Bed at the time with the idea that in 5 years (2009ish) we would sell and upgrade to a bigger place. Well, given my goals at the time I’m very happy I didn’t take the plunge and continued to rent. We now have a substantial amount for a down and will buy a 2+ or 3 Bed as soon as we like a unit. That’s my plan and it’s not against the law is it to take your time or change your goals or is it? I see alot of buyers doing that these days. Do you honestly think I should have taken the plunge in 2004 and tried to sell now??

    Hi, thanks for your comment. I have no advice for anyone as to when they should buy. Sounds as if it has worked out great for you. Congratulations on your patience; more people should be that way.

    Buying in 2004 and selling now would not have worked out for you; at best, break-even.
