‘Havens’

Some towns in Massachusetts remained havens of housing strength during the downturn — and they’re not the type of high-end towns or neighborhoods you usually hear about.

The Franklin sales numbers are pretty astonishing (click on graphic), considering how far out it is from Boston.

Any explanation? The two commuter rail lines help. But they’re still big numbers.

John–Thanks for mentioning this. Franklin is really only a 35 minute drive from downtown Boston in NO TRAFFIC and 45 commuter rail ride. It is also surrounding by highways, has relatively affordable homes, good schools and low taxes. Most of the surrounding towns have much higher tax rates and less affordable homes.

Very simple, It’s not true. Why a newspaper would allow real estate whores to babble about price increases while prices in those towns are in free fall is beyond me. Median price means shite and they know it…
