Fleeing Massachusetts
The following is an excerpt from a December 3rd, Channel 5 Editorial:
For decades Bay State residents have fled to warmer climates — places like Florida or North Carolina. But did you know that Boston lost 30,000 people during the first half of this decade — one of the biggest deficits of any American city?
From 2000 to 2008, U.S. population growth was 8 percent, while Massachusetts measured a mere 2.3 pecent and it might have ground to a halt by now.
Last year Northeastern University reported that only 64 percent of those born here actually stayed here.
