29-story apartment development in Chinatown a step closer to reality

The Boston Globe sheds a little more light on the approval process for the 29-story Kensington Place apartment/retail development in Chinatown. The Herald had the story a couple weeks ago, btw, so not much terribly new. Except a glowing quote from the BRA, which is basically the unofficial green light, all-systems-go.

    It’s about time. The empty lot on Washington Street has been very depressing for too long. However, is there enough market demand for premium-priced rentals?

    P.S. Many owners at the Ritz are going to be less than thrilled with this building because of blocked views.

    I also agree. Sponser is different group than original developer. Unlike prior developer, this group does not have a good reputation or the financial resources to pull this off.
