Currently in Boston, buying a Boston condo surpasses renting an apartment as the optimal choice in under 5 years, similar to pre-bubble results, according to the above Fannie Mae housing chart.

Although, many in the real estate industry still anticipate price corrections, the November RE/MAX Housing Report indicates that prices are remaining stable, or in some cases on the rise. As reported in the Boston Herald yesterday, developer Steven Samuels is planning a huge $250 million development at the corner of Boylston and Brookline Ave. in the Fenway. Plans filed for the BRA call for a total of 290 apartments, and about 400,000 square feet of retail and office space.

In the posts below we just listed some key data for prime downtown Boston condo markets. Over all, we can say some key downtown condo markets held up with small to minimal price declines – and one area actually bucked all trends.

Hi everyone Happy Holiday week!
Overall, I am expecting to see some movement in the markets and mortgage rates, but nothing drastic unless we get some surprising results from the week’s data. That said, we still need to keep a cautious approach following the surprising volatility of the past couple of weeks. I still believe there is more room for improvements to mortgage rates. We saw some improvement late last week and I believe there is a decent possibility of extending those gains the next couple of days.
