In the news, I keep hearing that if U.S. doesn’t raise the debt ceiling, the U.S. economy will collapse. What I don’t hear enough of is: Why? And, more importantly, what impact will this have on the Boston real estate market?

All of those foreclosed homes sitting empty, often times with the utilities shut off, are gathering more than just dust. NPR reports they’re also gathering, or actually growing, mold.

The war of words escalated yesterday between Mayor Menino and Vorando Realty Trust, with his honor calling the owner of Downtown Crossing’s Big Hole “scurrilous.”
