The South End area near the old Herald building is about to experience a building boom.
Besides the previously announced redevelopment of the Herald site along Harrison Avenue, the Globe is reporting that developers are also eyeing new apartments and retail complexes at 345 Harrison Avenue, 275 Albany Street and 1115 Washington. In all, the projects could add about 1,000 apartments and new restaurants and shops to the area.
Not bad for a former hard-scrabble section of the South End. The scope of the changes is pretty impressive.
