The building at 5 Commonwealth Avenue is the former home of the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE), which sold it to raise operating funds. The five-story, 13,000-square-foot stucture went under agreement in the fall of 2007, but the actual sale was delayed (til the sprig of 2009) to permit the BCAE to rehab its new headquarters at 112 Arlington Street in Bay Village.
The BCAE bought 5 Commonwealth in 1941 for $23,500.00
