Some OccupyBoston protesters in Dewey Square are packing up and getting ready to leave following Mayor Menino’s midnight deadline for them to leave the site. Some protesters are vowing to stay.

Let’s hope it ends peacefully. Let’s give the protesters credit for largely acting in a sincere and civil manner. Let’s give the city of Boston credit for showing restraint over the past two months. Let’s give the courts credit for carefully reviewing the case and then arriving at a common-sense conclusion that the city has the right to evict protesters after more than two months of 24/7 protests.

Everyone has largely handled themselves rather well.

So, again, let’s hope it ends well tonight.

File under: Peace

Update – Well, that was anti-climatic. The police allowed protesters to stay after midnight. Our sympathies/respect for the protesters are dwindling fast. They’ve been politely and clearly told to vacate Dewey Square. The courts have ruled they do not have an inherent right to be there. It’s almost as if they’re itching for a fight. Hopefully, the police won’t take the bait. They seem to be showing restraint.

Michael Lewis, the author of several best-selling business books, most recently “Boomerang,” has intercepted a top-secret message to all those in the top 1 percent of society. The chilling content: A possible counterrevolutionary strategy should the 99 percent revolt. Below, Boston Real Estate Blog presents excerpts from the disturbing memorandum:

To: The Upper Ones
From: Strategy Committee
Re: The Counterrevolution

As usual, we have much to celebrate.

The rabble has been driven from the public parks. Our adversaries, now defined by the freaks and criminals among them, have demonstrated only that they have no idea what they are doing. They have failed to identify a single achievable goal.
Just weeks ago, in our first memo, we expressed concern that the big Wall Street banks were vulnerable to a mass financial boycott — more vulnerable even than tobacco companies or apartheid-era South African multinationals. A boycott might raise fears of a bank run; and the fears might create the fact.

Now, we’ll never know: The Lower 99’s notion of an attack on Wall Street is to stand around hollering at the New York Stock Exchange. The stock exchange!

We have won a battle, but this war is far from over.

The tech journalist’s former company sued the journalist that viewed each of the 17,000 followers at a value of

$2.50 which they claim is the industry standard.

The journalist requested the court dismiss the case. A federal judge refused to dismiss the complaint. The more here.

Penn State students weren’t happy last night after Joe Paterno got fired for not doing enough to stop the rape of innocent young children.
Seriously, can it get any more pathetic?
