Protesters are planning to leaf-let Citibank branches today alleging that the bank has refused to make affordable mortgages available.
Members of the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance have vowed to alert Citibank customers of what they claim is the institution’s poor record of meeting community needs here.
“We demand to know why Citibank has refused to join the most affordable mortgage program for first-time buyers,” said Symone Crawford, a Mattapan resident.
The SoftSecond Loan Program is a low interest rate and low down payment mortgage designed to help first-time homebuyers. It combines a conventional first mortgage with a subsidized second mortgage to increase the borrower’s purchasing power.
My thoughts: low interest rate, low downpayment ect… Didn’t we try this once before?
