Massachusetts is the most competitive state in the country when it comes to attracting and keeping businesses while providing high standards of living for workers, according to a report to a study to be released Wednesday morning.
The report from the Beacon Hill Institute also showed New Hampshire, which was in third place two years ago, falling well out of the top 10.
Researchers preparing the study looked at areas such areas as security, government and fiscal policy, environmental policy, human resources, technology and “business incubation.”
Massachusetts did well in most of those areas but showed poorly in two: infrastructure, for which it ranked 41st, and openness, for which the state ranked ninth.
Overall, eight of last year’s top 10 states were in the top 10 again this year.
