Massachusetts named best state to raise a family

Massachusetts has been named the No. 1 state in the country to raise a family, according to WalletHub’s list of “2022’s Best & Worst States to Raise a Family.”

WalletHub compared all 50 states across five metrics covering family fun, health and safety, education and childcare, affordability and socio-economics. States were also compared across 51 key indicators of family-friendliness from median annual family income to housing affordability to the unemployment rate.

The Bay State took the top spot with a total score of 65.21. It ranked ninth in family fun, third for health and safety, second in education and childcare and second for affordability.

The report also ranked Massachusetts third in having the lowest infant mortality rate.
