New Boston condos and apartments
This is a head scratcher: Massport is opposing construction of more than 300 apartment units on a parcel near the Bank of America Pavilion in Seaport.
Neither the Globe story or Herald story is clear what’s going on. Residential units are apparently not allowed, but there’s no explanation from Massport why they’re not allowed.
Maybe it has to do with all the marine and industrial activity around there — and the desire to avoid future residential-vs.-business fights. Who knows?
It’s kind of a weird controversy considering how much this area needs housing. Three hundred new apartment units is nothing to sneeze at.
