Looks like News Copr is serious about finding a partner, or partners, for any projects it ends up building down in the Seaport Distrct.
Local developer Stephen R. Karp said today that he has been approached by News Corp. about a possible deal to buy some of the roughly 23 acres of South Boston waterfront it recently purchased from Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank H. McCourt Jr.
This part, I was a bit skeptical about:
“Retail is the catalyst,” said Karp, who has a long track record in developing successful shopping malls such as CambridgeSide Galleria.
Stephen Karp knows a lot more than I do about development, so I’ll have to trust what he says.
In my mind, putting retail first means we’ll end up with the Seaport District looking like Shoppers World, on Route 9.
Lost chances, broken dreams.
