The owners of Beacon Hill’s Villa Mexico Café are trying to move their small take-out operation within Grampy’s gas station on Cambridge Street to what looks like a long-abandoned commercial space at 12 Grove Street, the Beacon Hill Times reports.

And we’re talking about a long abandoned space, if this map is right. The address has an old, fading “Als Barber Shop” sign written in red paint on the outside window. Trust us, there hasn’t been a barber shop there in a long, long, long time, if we have the location down right.

Anyway, neighbors aren’t thrilled about the idea, and the Beacon Hill Civic Association is opposing the move. But the owners of the café are appealing the issue to the city’s zoning board at a hearing tomorrow morning, the Times reports.
