This is a first for me – I presented a tenant application to a Boston landlord and after reviewing the paper work the landlord requested that I do a search of the applicant on Facebook. The result: It revealed a Facebook page of the potential occupant which included pictures that raised an eyebrow with my landlord. While I’m not privy to write exactly what the problem was, just let’s say the owner became worried about loud parties and
promiscuous non-mother approved activities. In other words, to say that the Facebook page projected a questionable image would be an understatement.
Fair? It’s hard to say. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Sometimes pictures lie. In today’s wired world of social networks, potential landlords and employers are finding out more than you might think.
