Former Boston Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein has sold his 13-room mansion in Brookline’s Chestnut Hill neighborhood for $2.97 million ­ — nearly 19 percent off the list price, according to the MLS Property Information Network.

The 40-year-old Chicago Cubs general manager, who left the Sox after a disastrous 2011 season, listed the home in July for $3.65 million.
