There could have been a way to make this win-win, but it’s not to be.

The developer, the Hamilton Companies, was going to build 96 rental units on the site, helping the tight South End housing market.

Ming’s and its landlord, the Hamilton Co., have negotiated a 20-year deal that includes renovations to the property after Hamilton abandoned plans to demolish the supermarket and build 96 rental units at Washington and East Berkeley streets.
