Boston Real Estate for Sale

So, the last time an office tower was built in Boston was in 1982.

Wait, that’s not right.

But, it seems so, doesn’t it?

(The last tower was One Lincoln Street, now “The State Street building” (part deux).)

Suddenly, there are several office towers either about to break ground or on the drawing boards. In fact, there are 17 high-rises approved and 8 already under construction, according to emporis.com.

These include:

* South Station: 1 million square feet of office space
* Russia Wharf: mixed-use development – condos, hotel, 1/2 million square feet of office space
* Filene’s building: renovation of existing building with high-rise behind it, condos & office space across 1.25 million square feet
* Tommy’s Tower: 1,000-foot tall tower at 115 Winthrop Square, office space with three floors of retail and public plaza, at bottom
* Fan Pier – 1/2 million square feet of office space (with more to come …)
* Pier 4 – at least 1/3 of the seven million square feet will be commercial space

There are also many residential buildings proposed and approved, of course. Some have been delayed or canceled, but expect developers to ride out the current uncertainty.
