The BBJ has a big story on 45 Province, the 137-unit condo complex in the Downtown Crossing area that’s sold less than 50 percent of its condos.
The consensus of real estate experts quoted in the story: The luxury-condo building is absolutely beautiful, but it was built in the wrong place at the wrong time, just as the recession was coming and just as the Filene’s project was about to screech to a Big-Pit halt.
But there’s hope the new owners of the Filene’s project will get that nearby development underway soon, pumping up interest and activity in the area. Other apartment projects are slated for the general district. So it might well be that 45 Province could actually have been a victim of being merely ahead of its times.
