On Friday, Mayor Thomas M. Menino will join New Atlantic Development Co. for the groundbreaking of the ArtBlock on Harrison Avenue in Boston’s South End.
New Atlantic will build two new five-story buildings and renovate the existing Bates Arts Resources Center. The project will result in a total of 54 condominium units allowing for artists to use the space to work and live as well as ground floor space for a gallery, workshop and community space.
Of the 54 units, 32 units will be designated as affordable or for households earning up to 80 percent of the median income.
