Newbury Street to become a pedestrian mall?

Boston Courant:

Newbury Street would be occasionally closed to traffic and turned into a pedestrian mall under a plan being considered by Mayor Thomas Menino.

According to Menio, if such a plan moves forward, likely options would be on select days in July and August. That time of year is when pedestrian traffic at shops and art galleries is heaviest, Menino said
