The word on Beacon Hill is that Todd English (Owner of several well known restaurants) who purchased a Beacon Hill townhouse on Chestnut Street is in a lawsuit with the seller and his Charlestown real estate broker. The lawsuit is about the dried-out pilings beneath Todd English’s multi-million dollar townhouse that he discovered while renovating his home.

Groundwater levels have been dropping for years on the flat of Beacon hill and Back Bay neighborhoods, exposing the wooden supports that have supported these townhomes for more than a century. As the water levels drop the wooden supports are no longer protected by the water which causes the pilings to quickly rot, posing expensive repairs to the property owners.
