Banker & Tradesman is reporting that Hera Development Corp, owner of the building on the site of JAE’s restaurant, at 212 Stuart Street, will now become a 10-story office building, and not condominiums, as was originally proposed. (The previous sentence brought to you courtesy of the comma.)
The previous owner … planned a new structure with 18 condominiums, including two penthouse units. But the $12 million projects were never built and Hera bought the former restaurant site in November for $6.5 million. The developer also is negotiating to purchase the adjacent parking lot.
I remember reading some stuff about how this building used to be quite attractive and distinct (the word is “ornate”), but that much of the exterior had been stripped off, over the years.
I can’t find anything, right now, though.
