Millennium Partners, which has taken over the old Filene’s construction site in Downtown Crossing, is now proposing to build a 39-story tower, rivaling the size of other skyscrapers in the downtown area.
What a welcome change. For the past three years, all the city has heard is a bunch of excuses and whining about how construction couldn’t resume again at the site’s now abandoned empty pit. Then Millennium takes over, and the next day day it’s all systems go — and let’s build it bigger. Granted, there may yet be problems with the final design of the proposed tower. But it’s still so refreshing to hear from a developer with such an obvious can-do attitude..
