Boston Herald:

Investors and homebuyers viewing the recession as a chance to make their real estate dreams come true bid yesterday on 200 foreclosed properties in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Bids started as low as $500 for properties auctioned by the Irvine, Calif.-based Real Estate Disposition Corp. at a ballroom auction at the Westin Boston Waterfront. “With the news nowadays with the banks, I’d rather put my money in real estate,” said auction-goer Pierre Monay of Dorchester.

About 2,000 people registered online for the auction, which offered bidding from the Quality Inn and Wayfarer Convention Center in Bedford, N.H., said vice president of auctions Trent Ferris.
