In case you missed it, there’s a pretty good debate going on below about Gov. Patrick’s call to effectively increase taxes on the gains on home sales in Massachusetts.
And, yes, we think it’s effectively a new tax designed to raise hundreds of millions of dollars and disguised as closing an exemption ‘loophole.’
Don’t think it’s a new tax? Tell yourself that when you have to write out a big fat check to the Department of Revenue after you sell a home, if the governor gets his way.
