Cambridge named one of the best cities to live in America
One of the three best cities to live in in the U.S. is right here in Massachusetts.
Cambridge made the top three in Niche’s 2024 Best Cities to Live in America List.
This year’s rankings included 230 cities and more than 18,000 places.
Niche uses U.S. Census, Bureau of Labor Statistics and CDC data, along with millions of reviews from residents and considers factors including affordability, local housing market, neighborhood diversity, public schools, walkability and more.
On the best cities list, Cambridge took the No. 3 spot behind The Woodlands, Texas, in second place. Naperville, Illinois, ranked No. 1, while Arlington, Virginia, and Plano, Texas, rounded out the top five, in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Cambridge received an overall Niche score of A+, with the city’s schools garnering an A ranking.

August listings for condominiums in the Cambridge and Somerville areas have increased, according to recent data released from yourhomeguide
Cambridge condo inventory is up by 30 listings, or 13 percent, compared to August 2009. The median list price also increased by 7.4 percent, according to a statement. It was found that listings were on the market for four months, one month less than was reported one year ago. However, Cambridge condos under agreement dropped by 37 percent from the same time period last year.
Somerville condo inventory also rose slightly by 11 listings, or 8 percent, when compared to August 2009, according to a statement. The median list price and average amount of days on the market remained the same compared to last year. The amount of condos under agreement did rise by 0.9 percent
