So, a couple days / weeks ago, I was quoted in the Globe giving my opinion on the East Boston real estate market.

Basically I said that I was skeptical that there was much of a market for condos in East Boston, over $500,000. This was in response to a question about whether or not the East Pier project delay was a good thing or a bad thing.

Well, a couple of readers didn’t appreciate my comments (especially those who were past clients of mine!).

But, my skepticism was more about the density of the project and its pricing, not the project, itself. I’d be happy if they built the development, especially since it’s not just condos, but a multi-use project, complete with marina, etc.

I’d also like to see a lot more units priced in the $400,000 – $600,000 range. From what I had heard, the developers had planned on starting pricing in the $600,000 range, and that was for units with views of Maverick Square!

Anyway, after my comments were quoted, I heard from Paul Campano who works up in East Boston for Keller Williams.

Paul had the awesome Firehouse Lofts listings a couple years back, when they first went on the market. There are two units in the building, and there was a lot of publicity when the larger of the two was sold for over $1 million (setting an all-time record) (actual sales price was $1,150,000, according to the public record).

Well, now Paul’s back with the resale listing on the smaller unit, and it’s a killer.
