Pros and Cons of the Compass deal
Pros and Cons of the Compass deal
Pros for doing this deal:
- International – Reffkin sees the whole world as a possibility, and this transaction will bring together approximately 340,000 real estate professionals globally onto a shared network operating in every major U.S. city and serving approximately 120 countries and territories.
- Affiliates – the mortgage, escrow, title insurance, and relocation services are nice supplements to the sales business and Anywhere has had their affiliates in place longer than Compass has and presumably they’re more profitable.
- Recruiting of agents should be enhanced as other options start to wane.
- Zillow needs to be reckoned with, and lawsuits are expensive and uncertain.
It will be a long road before this deal is done, so let’s see where it goes. But it has the potential to create a new future for buyers, sellers, and agents – mostly because Robert Reffkin gets it about supporting the agents every way possible so we can spend more time with our clients.
Cons of doing the deal:
1.Compass shares dropped 15 percent
