If you look at this list of major housing markets, you’ll notice that the Boston area only ranks 31st in terms of housing-price forecasts for the rest of 2012.
But look at the list closer, especially toward the top, and you’ll see a lot of former basket-case markets doing much better, i.e. they had no where to go but up after years of devastating foreclosure trends and plummeting prices.
Boston’s housing market simply didn’t fall as much after the national crash, and it’s gains have correspondingly been more modest.
