Home sales soared in the Bay State last month, but the downtown Boston condominium market remains in distress.
Statewide, single-family home sales increased 17 percent last month to 4,295 compared to 3,664 in October 2008. It was the highest number of sales for October since 2005, but the median price fell 2.8 percent to $277,000.
While condo sales statewide increased 12 percent to 1,854 compared to 1,655 last October, Boston’s condo market was off by 10 percent and prices fell by 28 percent, according to the Warren Group, the real estate tracker.
