In 2004, the Hamilton Co. submitted plans to redevelop the building on lower Washington Street in the South End near Chinatown. The owner submitted plans to demolish the building, relocate Ming’s and rebuild it as a residential property with ground floor retail. The community and city officials resisted the idea, which made it unlikely to receive necessary permits from the Boston Redevelopment Authority.
