The long-stalled North Point project in Cambridge could be saved by, of all people, Earvin “Magic” Johnson. The former NBA star’s Canyon-Johnson has joined other investors in trying to re-start the giant development project, which hopes to build another 5 million square feet of residential, commercial and retail space on the site of the old Pan Am railroad yards.
If Magic pulls this one off, he just might permanently endear himself to Bostonians, who remember him more for his monumental battles with Larry Bird and the Celts.
