A lack of jobs is at the top of the list of reasons why housing prices aren’t rising.
But the second explanation is something we’ve never heard before: Younger people who can’t find jobs aren’t forming families as much these days. The trend is reducing the demand for starter homes. Younger people are also increasingly living with their parents longer. Not exactly the type of romantic environment to meet Mr. or Miss Right — or raise kids once they do find Mr. or Miss Right.
