Mayor Marty Walsh, who proclaimed during his recent campaign that he wanted to bulldoze City Hall, is now saying that, if you can’t bulldoze it, then at least beautify it.
Specifically, he wants to turn the wind-swept plaza into a park, with maybe a soccer field.
We’re not sure about the soccer field. But turning it into a park sounds logical and long overdue.
In the photo above (taken by an intrepid BREB correspondent), the plaza actually looks rather nice. But as we all know, it really is like a “frigid tundra in the winter and a shadeless brick desert in the dog days of summer.”
The plaza has to be the most underutilized piece of property in the downtown. Right now, it’s wasted space.
