A conversation with Restaurant owner Babak Bina
Yesterday, I had a conversation with Babak Bina owner of several restaurants one of which he closed down in Beacon Hill ( Lalah Rohk) and has space up for sale or rent, his other restaurant on Charles Street is still in business Bin 26. On our conversation regarding restaurants, he expects about 60% of all downtown Boston restaurants will close down by the end of the year.
And it’s not just downtown Boston, A stunning 64 percent of restaurants across the state said they are likely or somewhat likely to close by the end of the year, according to a survey by the Mass State Restaurant Association.
As Babak told me, It is painfully clear that without financial assistance, the restaurant industry in Massachusetts state is in a state of collapse.
Downtown Boston restaurants have been particularly hard hit despite efforts to expand outdoor dining to parking lanes and sidewalks. Business is expected to get even worse as the temperature drops.
