A war has been brewing on Beacon Hill between a Boston real estate developer and Beacon Hill residents. Apparently, a Boston real estate developer wanted to build a single-family home on one of the few vacant lots in the neighborhood. (The above picture is a 1,000 sq. ft. lot located at One Putnam Avenue in Beacon Hill). A contractor wanted to construct a single-family home on the site. This outraged Beacon Hill residents and they went into full force to prevent this from happening.
Earlier this afternoon, there was a hearing on this issue at the Zoning Board of Appeals, and the result………the developer was turned down. The main reason was that the development project failed to meet the minimum standards for the Boston Fire Prevention Code. The auditorium erupted with thunderous applause once the decision was announced.
