A Boston condo broker rushed to the downtown Boston Jewelry building, the broker asked, “Can you fix it by tonight?” His voice trembling with anxiety. “It was my grandfather’s. I dropped it, and now it’s completely ruined. My whole day is ruined.”

The watchmaker looked up, his eyes kind and calm. He didn’t rush. He gently placed the broken gears into a small tray.

“I can fix it,” the watchmaker said softly. “But it takes time to rebuild what is broken. You must leave it with me and trust my hands.”

The Boston condo broker stopped pacing. He looked at his hands, then at the watchmaker. A sudden, quiet peace filled the room. He realized his anxiety wasn’t about the watch at all—it was about his need to control tomorrow.

“Okay,” the young man whispered, exhaling a long breath. “I will leave it in your hands.”

He walked out of the shop, leaving the burden behind, finally ready to trust the timing of a higher power.
