Here’s a real cool map from the US Census Bureau’s American Community Service, via BusinessInsider. It shows the make-up of the city by broad employment classes (click on map for larger version).

Of course, there’s still lots of working-class residents in Boston and immediate areas. But notice how no one neighborhood is “primarily working class,” unless we’re missing something and mixing up what’s purple and blue.

Key to map: Purple shades are “primarily creative class.” Red shades are “primarily service class.” And blue shades are “primarily working class.”

It’s pretty safe to say that a number of decades ago there was a lot more blue on this map.
