Boston Real Estate for Sale

Casey Ross wrote a good piece on the Boston Globe about the potential buyers for the Filene’s “hole” in Downtown Crossing. After Vornado and John B. Hynes III announced they were putting the property up for sale, many wondered if they’d ever get their $150 million out of it. Ross reports that Vornado is now thinking closer to $100 million — and developers are valuing the property at as high as $80 million. So … developers and Vornado/Hynes are at least in the same ballpark.

Here’s who was mentioned as in the running for a possible deal: Normandy Real Estate Properties – who just sold the Hancock for $930 million; the Related Companies (which developed The Clarendon); mega-developer Roger Drucker; and Texas-based Criterion Development Partners.

Here’s who is NOT mentioned: Suffolk U. Draw your own conclusions.
