The Boston Business Journal reports on a new survey of Boston area employers by hiring firm Manpower, and it shows a decent bump up in hiring expectations for Q1 2011 compared to a year ago. In the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy area, 15 percent of employers surveyed plan to add jobs, 6 percent said they were cutting, and 77 percent said they will have no changes. That’s a net gain of 9 percent — considerably better than 2010 Q1 numbers which showed no net gain.
Nationally, the picture isn’t nearly as rosy as the Boston area’s – but it’s still an improvement over last year. Here’s the national report (PDF).
