Scott’s post on the starter-home market in Massachusetts prompted Rona to post: “True starter homes are a big mistake for buyers.”
She proceeds to list all the logical reasons why. But what do you think? There are times when starter-homes are necessary – or illogically logical. People want to move into a desirable neighborhood or town ASAP for schools. People don’t like seeing their rent money going to someone else when it can go toward a home. People simply can’t afford what they might think they’ll need down the road. People just want to start nesting etc.
These are all intangibles that don’t fit neatly into long-term financial plans – and yet they exist nonetheless.
