The CEO of Wegmans, owner of the uber-giant supermarkets that make Super Stop & Shops look tiny by comparison, is saying his company would like to open a store in Downtown Crossing.
Now that would be huge. A typical Wegmans has multiple food courts and cafes, in addition to its huge offerings of groceries, meats, produce, baked goods, etc. A Wegmans would instantly rejuvenate the area and help spur more residential developments in the district, though nearby restaurants might dread its arrival.
