After 20 years, Mayor Menino is calling it quits as mayor.
Lots of chatter about the move over at Universal Hub. Some of the comments strike us as being way too harsh.
Sure, you could open a virtual Menino Museum of Famous Flubs if you wanted. But he was largely a good mayor — and free of corruption, or at least free of major scandals (there’s a difference — the latter implying not getting caught). By and large, the city prospered under his leadership. What else do people want from a mayor? A Winston Churchill world statesman?
He’s going to be hard to replace. Love him or hate him, Mayor Menino was effective
